The weather of the last weeks in middle Europe truly leaves much to be desired. Totally different is the situation in the sunny kissed Spain! To Alicante for example many cheap air connections are available and along the Costa Blanca in the provinces Castellon, Valencia and Alicante countless excellent climbing areas are waiting for the sun-seeking sportclimber!

Allgäu - Gebührenwahnsinn am Parkplatz - Dramatischer Rückgang der Besucherzahlen

Wie bereits berichtet, wird das Allgäu seit einigen Monaten von einer - für eine in Deutschland gelegene Naturregion - beispiellosen Welle "Moderner Parkraumbewirtschaftung" heimgesucht.

Allgäu - Rock Condition Report:

Thanks to a very dry March some crags near to the valley-ground have been very dry already, a lot earlier than usual.

But not to forget: areas at an higher altitude and on shady hillsides are still not free of snow, winter is not over there! Especially on the access trails and on shady parts at the base of the crags ice and snow-fields are still to be expected. High-altitude-areas are often still completely in the snow, especially north-facing access pathes!

Last weekend a 3-days "winter-episode" with snow down to the valley-ground caused the appearance of some water-spots on crags which have been dry before.

The current period of storm and rain will increase the general wetness of the crags.

The coming weekend snow down to the valley-ground is to be expected.

Prediction:

On typically quite dry crags close to the valley-ground climbing will prospectively be possible as soon as the crags have been able to dry 1, 2 days after the current rain/snow-period.

Allgäu - Parkplatz Tiefenbach:

Der Parkplatz bei der Kirche in Tiefenbach ist unbedingt für Kirchen- und Friedhofsbesucher frei zu halten! Vor Ort weisen Schilder "Parken nur für Friedhofs- und Kirchenbesucher - Unberechtigt geparkte Fahrzeuge werden kostenpflichtig abgeschleppt" auf die Situation hin.

Aktuell ist wegen Bauarbeiten zwischen Wasach und Kreben zudem die ganze Straße von Tiefenbach bis Wasach beidseitig mit "Absolutem Halteverbot - Rettungsgasse" ausgeschildert.

Für den Besuch der Klettergebiete um Tiefenbach kann man im Ort Tiefenbach an den dort befindlichen öffentlichen Parkplätzen entlang der Hauptstraße oder bei den Glascontainern parken. Von dort sind es in etwa 750 m mehr zu laufen, die gesamte Zugangszeit z. B. für das Klettergebiet Neues Tiefenbach beträgt daher nun ca. 15-20 Minuten.

Allerdings sind die Parkflächen dort begrenzt, zu Ostern/Himmelfahrt/Pfingsten wird die Situation sicherlich extrem angespannt sein.

Man sollte sich derzeit also genau überlegen, ob ein Besuch der Klettergebiete um Tiefenbach während Feier-/Brückentagen unbedingt notwendig ist.

Parken in Immenstadt an der Edmund-Probst-Str. (am Friedhof), Ausgangspunkt für das Bouldergebiet im Steigbachtal sowie möglicher Ausgangspunkt für den Anmarsch zu den Klettergebieten Steineberg und Hinterkirche kostet jetzt 8,-- EUR pro Tag.

Das dort kostenfreie Parken an den Wochenenden entfällt ebenfalls.

Allgäu - Gebührenwahnsinn am Parkplatz:

Das Thema "Moderne Parkraumbewirtschaftung" spielt für uns Einheimische im Allgäu eine unglaublich wichtige Rolle in unserem täglichen Leben und bei der Möglichkeit des Erlebens unserer eigenen Heimat.

Wir befinden uns momentan an einem Scheideweg zwischen einer offenen, freiheitlichen Gesellschaft und einer Gesellschaft, deren politische Entscheidungsträger in ihrem Regelungsdrang offenbar jegliches Augenmaß verloren haben.

Freiheiten, die die Lebensqualität von uns allen maßgeblich beeinflussen, werden radikal eingeschränkt, der Bürger wird dabei außen vor gelassen, entsprechende Ratschläge und Warnungen werden schlicht und einfach ignoriert.

Damit laufen diese Gremien jedoch höchste Gefahr, unserer Region nachhaltigen wirtschaftlichen und sozialen Schaden zuzufügen.

Um es klar zu benennen: Viele Menschen im Allgäu können sich das Erleben ihrer eigenen Heimat nicht mehr leisten!

The conditions are still super bad, the rock dries slowlier than the new thunderstorms arrive. Wednesday most Routes at Rottachberg and even a great part of the Routes at Weihar-Ifenblick have been wet. Only some single routes are climbable here and there.

Allgäu - Gebührenwahnsinn am Parkplatz - die nächste Runde:

Nachdem die Gemeinden Blaichach und zuletzt Burgberg bereits neue exorbitant teure Parkflächenbewirtschaftungskonzepte eingeführt haben, gibt es schon die nächsten Hiobsbotschaften:

• Parken an den Bergbahnen Oberstdorf/Kleinwalsertal kostet ab jetzt 9,-- EUR. Soweit uns berichtet wurde, ist das Bezahlen an den Automaten nur noch mit Karte möglich. Ob dies mit bestehenden gesetzlichen Vorschriften zur verpflichtenden Annahme von Bargeld an öffentlichen Stellen vereinbar ist, darf unserer Meinung nach durchaus hinterfragt werden.
  Gleichzeitig wurde die Möglichkeit des Erwerbs eines Jahrestickets abgeschafft.
• An der Mittagbahn wird gemäß unseren Informationen die Parkgebühr beim Kauf eines Bahntickets nicht mehr erstattet.
• Ganz aktuell hat die gemeinde Rettenberg ebenfalls ein Parkflächenbewirtschaftungskonzept verabschiedet. Parken am Rottachberg (Parkplatz Hinterberg) und an der Parkplatzwand (Parkplatz Grauer Stein) werden in Zukunft 6,-- EUR pro Tag kosten. Außerdem wird im gesamten Gemeindegebiet ein Nachtparkverbot erlassen.

Insbesondere für einheimische Naturliebhaber sind dies astronomische jährliche zusätzliche Lebenshaltungskosten, die hier generiert werden. Für junge Menschen wie Studenten wird das Naturerleben damit praktisch unerschwinglich.

After more rainfall almost the complete Friday and really heavy rain in the night from Friday to Saturday all crags in Allgäu are soaking wet. Please remember: Allow conglomerate at least 2 full completely dry days before you start climbing there again, otherwise the rock is still soaked with water and softened up and there is a high risk of braking holds!

After 4 days of nearly permanent rain, all crags are completely wet. The forecast predicts more rain in the next days, therefore the crags will quite sure not get dry. Especially all conglomerate walls should be avoided until the rock is really dry again deeply (and not only on the surface!). Otherwise there is a high risk of braking holds!

Es wird dringend darum gebeten, den Parkplatz bei der Kirche in Tiefenbach für Kirchen- und Friedhofsbesucher frei zu halten!

Gottesdienste finden in der Regel Sonn- und Feiertags am Vormittag statt.

Bitte parkt für den Besuch der Klettergebiete in Tiefenbach im Ort an den dort befindlichen öffentlichen Parkplätzen. Es sind lediglich 700 m mehr zu laufen.

Allgäu - Gebührenwahnsinn am Parkplatz:

Letztes Jahr hat die Gemeinde Blaichach ein gemeindeweites Parkflächen-Bewirtschaftungskonzept umgesetzt, bei dem nahezu alle Parkflächen gebührenpflichtig wurden. Für Kletterer fällt dies insbesondere ins Gewicht, da für ein Besuch der Kletter- und Bouldergebiete im Gunzesrieder Tal nun eine erhebliche Parkgebühr entrichtet werden muss.

Ganz aktuell wurde nun in der Gemeinde Burgberg ebenfalls ein Parkflächen-Bewirtschaftungskonzept umgesetzt. Entlang des gesamten Alpwegs von Burgberg bis zum Gasthof Alpenblick besteht nun an allen Parkflächen eine Gebührenpflicht von stolzen 6 EUR / Tag (6-22 Uhr). Von den Burgberger Platten über den Grauen Stein, die Starzlachklamm, Rossberg, Nasse Wand, Stuhlwand usw. sind alle Gebiete betroffen.

Außerdem herrscht von 22-6 Uhr ein "Absolutes Halteverbot".

Der für "Parken + Mitnehmen" bzw als "Pendlerparkplatz" sehr praktisch gelegene große Parkplatz am Abzweig der B 19 nach Tiefenberg (Gemeinde Ofterschwang) ist seit Neuestem ebenfalls gebührenpflichtig (5 EUR / Tag).

Allgäu - Felslagebericht/Bedingungen Wege/Parken:

Mitte März gab es im Allgäu einen beachtlichen Wintereinbruch mit 1/2 bis 1 m Neuschnee bis in mittlere und tiefe Lagen. Dieser Schnee liegt vor allem in schattigen Hangbereichen, Mulden und am Wandfuß vieler Wände noch immer und schmilzt trotz der aktuell herrschenden frühlingshaften Temperaturen nur langsam.

Im Gegensatz zu den letztjährigen Ostertagen muss dieses Jahr daher vielerorts im Allgäu mit noch winterlichen Bedingungen besonders im Zustieg und am Wandfuß von Felsen gerechnet werden!

Parkplatzsituation:

Einige Parkplätze sind noch immer im "Wintermodus". Das heißt, teilweise nur wenig Fläche geräumt und es gelten noch die hohen Parkplatzgebühren dieser Wintersaison (z. B. Auenhütte, Fellhornbahn). Auf einigen Parkplätzen ist auch immer noch der Schnee des Winters gelagert, so dass nicht alle Stellplätze zur Verfügung stehen. Kleinere Parkmöglichkeiten in schattigen Bereichen, auch im Tal, sind teilweise noch schneebedeckt. Man muss daher mit einer noch angespannteren Parkplatzsituation rechnen, als dies beim letztjährigen Besucheransturm über Ostern der Fall war.

Zustiegswege:

Auf vielen Wegen liegt noch Schnee oder Eis! Besonders an west- und nordseitigen Hängen, in Mulden und schattigen Wegabschnitten. Viele Wegabschnitte sind, da gerade erst aufgetaut, noch extrem matschig.

An Felsen in Hochlagen, wie zum Beispiel das Klettergebiet am Prinz-Luitpold-Haus, herrscht noch tiefer Winter.

Felslage:

An schattigen Wänden sowie nordwestlich oder nördlich ausgerichteten Felsen liegt noch viel Schnee am Wandfuß, oft auch oberhalb der Wände. An hoch gelegenen Gebieten herrscht generell noch tiefer Winter.

Zur Nässe neigende Felsen sind überwiegend noch feucht, manchmal läuft auch von oben schmelzender Schnee in die Wände.

Insbesondere Boulderfelsen und überhängende Wandbereiche, aus denen generell Wasser länger rausdrückt, sind daher noch nass.

Man muss an einigen Wänden gerade auch vermehrt mit von oben fallenden Steinen, Eis und Schnee rechnen!

Übernachten:

Beherbergungsbetriebe sind per Verordnung geschlossen!

Im Allgäu wie auch fast überall sonst in Bayern herrscht eine Ausgangssperre von 22:00 Uhr bis 5:00 Uhr.

Übernachten im Freien, im Auto, Bus oder Wohnmobil ist daher untersagt.

Allgäu - Greggenhofen/Weiher/Freidorf: Thanks to the effort of the mayor of Rettenberg the parking at the "Parkplatzwand" will stay open during the roadwork there. The construction company will keep space free for parking.

Nevertheless locals and visitors which have a bike with them should use the bike for the getting there!

Bigger parkings (currently also often very crowded) can be found at the quarry of Burgberg and at the beginning of the so called "Birkenallee" close to the B19-exit "Immenstadt Süd/Rettenberg". From there the crags in question are only some and mostly flat kilometres away.

Parking at the glass containers near Freidorf is not possible any more! The space there is private property and the owner was not happy to find the access to the fields there permanently blocked by wrongly parked cars. Also here the search for a solution is in progress.

The search for more parking spaces is also in progress. Rettenberg definitely tries to do the best to improve the whole situation concerning traffic/parking for locals as well as for visitors.

Allgäu-Hinterstein: As announced in the daily press, the municipal council of Bad Hindelang decided to rise the parking fee for the parkings "Festhalle" and "Auf der Höh" to mind-blowing 10,00 EUR (in June 2018 the fee rised already from 2,50 EUR to 4,00 EUR). The parking fee for the parking "Säge" will after all rise to an also quite steep price of 5,00 EUR.

Allgäu: Caused by the current situation (international travel restrictions) we have a massively increased rush of visitors, also in our climbing and bouldering areas. In many places already now the parking situation is very difficult and parkings are overflowing. Therefore the IG Klettern approached the communities to previously discuss possibly upcoming problems and prevent potentially upcoming danger of closures.

The community of Bad Hindelang asks to park for the climbing and bouldering areas at the Ornach (Kraftwand, Kraftboulder, Weihar) solely in Oberjoch on the parkings P1, P2 and P3. The parking for the Hirschalpe should stay reserved for visitors of the Alpe.

Please help by a discreet behaviour to avoid problems and to preserve the climbing and bouldering areas in the region:

• Please remember not to block forest and field pathes. In Allgäu the grassland is permanently farmed and hay is cutted on all days of the week (MON-SUN!),tractors with huge hangers need enough space to pass!
• Remember also: parking on the green next to roads and elsewhere is prohibited!

Allgäu: As we don't want to miss to support our long-standing partners as good as possible, here the following info to all in the Allgäu: The inn "Schiff" in Bihlerdorf had the clever idea of a drive-in. SOON TO COME! Last and this year the Team of the GEBRO Verlag was extremely busy doing research for you and was working very hard to add this research information to new books. Very soon follows a multiple coup with altogether 2208 pages concentrated info to several areas:

• Both volumes of the guidebook for the Northern Frankenjura "Franken 1" und "Franken 2" will be published in the 3rd edition: 1536 pages •  13120 routes (+2500) • 861 crags (+74)
• The completely revised edition of the bouldertopo "swiss Bloc °1":  352 pages • 3600 problems (+1300) • 16 areas (+4)
• The 4th strike also this spring will be the 8th edition of "Allgäu-Rock"

The books "Franken 1", "Franken 2" will be published prospectively still in April, the "swiss Bloc °1" should follow shortly after, and also hopefully still in spring the up-to-date guide for the Allgäu-areas should be available.
